Mallin Colorado trails

Mallin Colorado is a private property located between Lakes General Carrera and Bertrand. Its facilities overlook Lake General Carrera. It comprises mountains of native forest with wide views of Lake Bertrand and the snowdrifts of the Cordón Contreras, offering very good hiking and horseback riding trails for its guests.

There are several trails that start from the same club house. For those who like hiking, the Mallin Colorado Trail (Sendero Mallin Colorado) climbs from 300 to 670 meters and crosses native forests of coigue, lenga and ñire shrubs, with a huge variety of different plants and flowers along the way. Perhaps what is most impressive are its views, which halfway through begin to focus on the majestic Contreras mountain range with several snowdrifts and peaks, to finally reach an extraordinary viewpoint of Lake Bertrand and Lake Plomo. This trail takes about four hours round trip and can be done in the morning, returning for a delicious lunch at the club house.

There is another trail, the Short Trail (Sendero corto) which is shorter and crosses a forest of large coigues immediately above the cabins, from where you can see incredible views of Lake General Carrera. It starts at the club house and ends at the barbecue area, needing about 30 minutes of walking.

And a third trail that goes to the beach on Lake General Carrera, the Trail to the Beach (Sendero a la playa). Leaving Mallin Colorado, cross the Carretera Austral at the entrance of the neighbor and begin to walk to the right along an easy path, which crosses some forests of immense coigues and comes out at mid-altitude in the westernmost part of Lake General Carrera. You can continue walking parallel to the beach or go down the main road and enjoy the best view of Patagonia on the shores of the lake. The return to Mallin Colorado, uphill, takes about 45 minutes.
